by sound since theres no visual to tell you unless you got that one monitor where it has sonic radar or whatever its called(idk the monitor name) but that monitors feature has the visual you want

check for muzzles flashes, look for cover cancer, and never trust bushes.

for me the blood appeararing on different sides of the screen when getting hit showed the direction.

Visual clues? The enemy muzzle flash will sometimes help you find them, unless they have a flash hider which makes it harder. As for other visual clues, check to see where the bullets that miss are landing around you, will often give you some clue as to angle, if you combine it with the sound direction.
Overall though you really need to keep your long distance awareness on point and always be near cover if possible to buy time when you get fired upon from an unknown position.

i use a Razer Tiamat 7.1 3.5mm headset with a Soundblaster ZX soundcard it is spot on in direction i could close my eyes and 100% shoot u if u make sound.....try to invest in these instead of USB headsets that say 7.1 audio but are truly only 2 speaker.
Best bet is to watch your surroundings to see where the bullets are hitting. If youre standing in a field and you see dirt kicking up around you on the right side, best bet would be to say hes shooting at you from your left. Safest way to know for sure though is get a decent headset and turn your volume up.

You're equipment isn't helping you any more than someone who uses decent mobo sound and a $30+ headset. Thanks for the laugh though. Play a round blindfolded and stream it for us, would you?

It absolutely triggers me when I'm playing with my friends and they start getting shot from what I think is an obvious direction, but they run around like headless chickens.
It's obvious not everyone can interpet the sound to the same degree to pinpoint at least what general direction the shots are coming from.

I think there's a decent difference in quality if you're using 30 dollar headphones vs more expensive headphones that have things like more than one drive in each cup which lets you hear a wider range.
The sound combined with where the bullet holes are landing are usually enough for me to react within a few seconds after the first shot lands. The flashes just help you pinpoint exactly where from said general direction.
I do have to say that supressors always confuse me though which I think is how it should be.
